COL (Retired) Curtis Carson has had an illustrious military career, serving 30 years as a decorated career Infantry officer in the United States Army with demonstrated expertise in leadership, training, human resources and strategic planning.
Since joining the Unity Aluminum team, Curtis has singularly orchestrated and articulated all recruiting, training, compensation, policy development and environmental health & safety functions.
Prior to joining the Unity Aluminum team, Curtis served four years as NATO’s Strategic Land Operations Planner in Brussels, Belgium. During his tenure, he was responsible for the integration, advocation and formulation of United States plans, policy and strategies with NATO allies and partners. Additionally, he represented the United States at NATO negotiations, influenced NATO Allies and Partners to meet US interests and became a recognized expert on multinational processes and procedures.
During his military tenure, he led soldiers in peacetime and in conflict, from the Platoon to Brigade level. He has served or participated in operations, planning efforts and exercises around the globe in places like Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Thailand, Sinai Desert Egypt, Korea, Germany and Belgium. Additionally, Curtis has received numerous awards and decorations, including the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star.
Curtis holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Resources Management and Personnel Administration from Webster University. He has served the community through various groups and 501c3s, including as Chairman of the Brussels American School Advisory Council, as a Governor appointed board member of the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board and as a Build Ashland volunteer.
