Adriana Smith Rojas

Adriana Smith Rojas has over five years of experience in the field of intellectual property. Adriana began their career in 2015 as a Patent Engineer at Villaseca Abogados, where they worked for a wide client portfolio comprising multinationals as well as large and medium-sized companies, across a broad spectrum of technologies, including pharmaceutical and biotechnological inventions. In 2017, they were selected to represent the Magister Lvcentinvs program of Universitat d'Alacant at the 19th EIPIN Congress. In 2018, they joined the European Patent Office as a Patent Examiner Trainee in the Immunology department. In 2020, they began working at Universal Diagnostics S.A. as an IP Manager & Patent Specialist and at Hub APTA as an Analista de innovación especialista en Propiedad Intelectual. Adriana has experience in project drafting, formulation and coordination, technology surveillance, patent prosecution, and intellectual property matters.

Adriana Smith Rojas is currently a candidate for a Master Degree in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya - Universidad de Barcelona (Interuniversity). Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Laws - LLM in Industrial and Intellectual Property from the Universitat d'Alacant in 2017-2018. Adriana also holds a Diploma in Intellectual and Industrial Property from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, which they obtained in 2016. Adriana Smith Rojas also holds a Grado en Ingeniería in Ingeniería en Biotecnología from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile, which they obtained from 2009-2014. Adriana has also held various courses and certifications, including a course in Enseñanza de inglés como lengua extranjera from the Instituto Chileno-Norteamericano de Cultura (2013-2014), a course in Curso de Propiedad Intelectual from the Universidad de los Andes (2013), a course in Curso de Biominería from the Universidad de Antofagasta (2012), a Diplomados Ingeniería Industrial UC from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2013), and a course in Enseñanza de inglés como lengua extranjera from the Instituto Chileno-Británico de Cultura (2003-2005).
