Todd Murphy has worked in the news monitoring and media analysis industry since 1991, when they began as CEO of Universal Information Services, a nationwide solutions provider for print, broadcast, web, and social media tracking. In 2000, they became President of Chicago News Monitoring, Inc., creating a national news monitoring and media analysis service to serve the local agencies and corporations in the Chicago area. In 2004, they became President of News Data Services, managing the world's largest network of independent TV and radio monitoring services. In 2009, they became President of Utah News Clips, which was rebranded to Total News Tracking in 2012. In 2011, they became VP of Universal Information Services, acquiring Quality Services of Alaska and Worldwide News Monitor. In 2012, they became President of The Rotary Club of Omaha-Downtown, District #5650. In 2017, they became VP of Universal Information Services, acquiring The Daily Recorder in Albany, New York.

Todd Murphy attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communications.
