Sebastian Weidt

Sebastian Weidt has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. In 2008, they started as a Social Program Director at International House WELS Group before moving to StaibServices as a Junior Consultant. In 2013, they joined the University of Sussex as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow until 2015. Sebastian then joined the Ion Quantum Technology group in 2015 as a Senior Scientist, where they worked on various quantum technologies projects and led commercial collaborations. In 2018, Sebastian became a Lecturer in Quantum Technologies at the University of Sussex, and later in 2021, they were promoted to a Senior Lecturer in the same field. In 2019, they co-founded Universal Quantum and assumed the role of CEO.

Sebastian Weidt pursued their education at the University of Sussex, where they completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics with Management Studies from 2005 to 2009. After that, they continued their academic journey at the same university and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Quantum Information Technology, which they completed from 2010 to 2014.
