Carmen Pérez Vidal is a professor of English and Language Acquisition at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences at Pompeu Fabra University, where she is a member of the consolidated research group Language Acquisition from Multilingual Catalonia (ALLENCAM), which she led from from its beginnings, in 2004, until 2017. She is also a sworn translator of English and French.
Graduated in Hispanic and Anglo-Germanic Philology (UAB, UB), she completed a master's degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Reading (GB), and obtained her doctorate with a thesis on English/Catalan bilingual acquisition in children, with a study case (UB, 1995). His subsequent research has focused on the acquisition of second and foreign languages, both in conventional programs and in immersion programs and, especially, in the effects of ERASMUS exchanges, topics on which she has led five projects funded by the Ministry , a European educational project and recently a European Cooperation in Scientific and Technical Research (COST) project.
She has edited five books, 78 book chapters as well as numerous articles, which have appeared in books and magazines of international prestige; she has also supervised fourteen theses. She has advised and given training to the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya and to different educational entities in the area.
Before assuming the position of delegate of EUTOPIA, she founded and directed the School of Languages (PEI-Idiomes UPF, 1999-2004) and was vice-rector of Language Promotion and delegate of the rector for Languages (2004-2012) , stage in which she designed and deployed the Action Plan for Multilingualism (PAM) at the UPF. Recently, she coordinated the doctoral program of his department (2018-2023).
She was appointed by the rector on March 30, 2023.
