Mervyn Walker

Mervyn Walker brings extensive experience as a Non-Executive and Chair. Since 2015 he has been the Chair of Moorfields Eye Charity, which supports the eye research, education and patient care work of Moorfields Eye Hospital. He also holds a number of pension trustee roles, as Chair of the Wood Group Pension Plan, Chair of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Pension & Assurance Scheme and Trustee Director of LifeSight, the pensions master trust founded by Willis Towers Watson.

From 2014 to 2020 Mervyn was a member of the Board of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, becoming Lead Non-Executive in 2017 and Chair in 2018. While at HMRC, he also led the Non-Executive support for talent development across the Civil Service. His other previous Non-Executive roles include Chair of the British Airways Pension Schemes.

Mervyn is a Lawyer by background. He took a Law degree at St. Catherine's College, Oxford and qualified as a Solicitor. From 1986 to 2005 he worked for British Airways, holding a series of senior positions including Legal Director, Director of Purchasing, Director for People and Director of UK Airports. From 2006 to 2008 he worked for Mondi, the international paper and packaging company, as Group Human Resources and Legal Director, and from 2008 to 2014 he worked for Anglo American, the global mining company, as Group Director of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs.
