Scott Steinberg is the Vice President of University Admissions at the University of New England, with responsibility for undergraduate and graduate admissions. He came to UNE from Bates College, where he served as director of admissions. Prior to Bates, Mr. Steinberg served as dean of admissions and chief marketing officer at the University of Southern Maine (USM). Prior to USM, Mr. Steinberg served as director of admissions operations at Bowdoin College. Mr. Steinberg began his professional work in higher education at Bates as assistant dean of admissions, before moving to the advancement office as director of alumni relations. Additionally, Mr. Steinberg also served as the women’s varsity tennis coach at Bates.
Prior to his work in higher education, Mr. Steinberg was a marketing director at the New York Life Insurance Company, a Fortune 100 company, launching a new business unit charged with researching, developing and implementing programs designed to increase customer retention. Under Mr. Steinberg’s leadership, individual customer retention improved by 33%. Mr. Steinberg also recruited and trained sales agents, with his office generating top sales results among 200 worldwide locations. He also recruited top-tier M.B.A. graduates to the company.
Mr. Steinberg earned his M.B.A. in marketing and finance from Columbia University, Graduate School of Business and his Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and music from Bates College.
