Edward J. Steinmetz, Jr., was named vice president for finance/treasurer in 2008. He joined the University in 1991 to develop the internal audit function and served as The University of Scranton’s first internal auditor. Steinmetz was promoted to assistant vice president for finance in 1993, and was named associate vice president for finance in 2002. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master of business administration degree from The University of Scranton, and became a certified public accountant in 1982. Prior to joining the University, he worked for 10 years in public and private accounting positions. Steinmetz was co-chair of the steering committee for The University of Scranton’s last Self-Study Report for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. He also serves on various other committees, including the President’s Cabinet, University Planning Committee, Financial Management Committee and the Committee on University Image and Promotion. He is a resource member for a number of the Board of Trustee committees. He has delivered presentations at various technology and professional business and finance association meetings. In addition, Steinmetz has been a member of Pennsylvania Department of Education teams that evaluate proposed status changes for other educational institutions in the Commonwealth. He is an active member of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers.
