Martin Claxton

Martin Claxton is an experienced professional with a diverse background in engineering, safety, and governance. Currently serving as a Standardised Client at the University of Strathclyde since February 2023, Martin assesses law students’ interviewing skills. Additionally, as a Safety Advisor for Scottish Rowing since January 2022, Martin provides critical safety guidance. Previous roles include Technical Consultant at Babcock International Group and Home Nations Director for British Rowing, where Martin represented the interests of Scotland and Wales. Martin has held various leadership positions at Babcock International Group, focusing on compliance and the management of high-stakes facilities, including nuclear powered warships. With significant experience in the UK nuclear sector, including as Chairman of the National Operating Experience & Learning Group, Martin is well-versed in safety and operational standards. Martin's educational background includes a Level 8 Certificate in Strategic Direction & Leadership from Alliance Manchester Business School and a PG Diploma in Nuclear Reactor Technology from RNC Greenwich.
