Kim Tavares guides the progress as UTS strives to create a greater culture of inclusion. She builds upon recommendations made by Dr. Avis Glaze O Ont in her 2022 report: Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: The Shared Responsibility. Kim’s mandate is to support the evolving educational programming to foster greater equity and inclusion as well as build partnerships to further this work. Her role intersects with and impacts nearly every area of the academic program and operations. She is also leading the commitment to increasing representation at UTS among traditionally underrepresented groups, ensuring that all students feel affirmed and truly welcome at the school. She instills equity as a mindset within all that they do.
