Before joining Citi, Claro started their career at Citi as a Trust Operations Head/Treasury Operations from 1987 to 1992, and later worked as a Money Market Trader in the Country Treasury from 1992 to 1993.

Claro Bonilla obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration & Accountancy (BSBAA) from the University of the Philippines. After completing their bachelor's degree, they pursued a Master in Business Management (MBM) degree at the Asian Institute of Management, specializing in Finance, Marketing, and General studies.
