Jack Sykstus, LMFT

Jack Sykstus, LMFT, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. In 2013, they worked as a Gas Station Attendant at Costco Wholesale until 2015. From 2015 to 2016, they served as a Collegiate Recovery Community Graduate Student Assistant at the University of Alabama Student Health Center. In 2016, they became a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Alabama Human Development and Family Studies, a role they held until 2018. In 2018, they joined Encore Recovery Solutions as a Primary Therapist for a year. Starting in 2019, Jack worked at Del Ray Psych & Wellness, LLC, initially as a Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy from 2019 to 2020, and then as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from 2020 to 2022. During this time, they also held multiple roles at the Partnership to End Addiction, including Helpline Specialist II from 2019 to 2021, Producer of Heart of the Matter from 2020 to 2021, and Associate Director of Clinical User Experience from 2021 to 2021. Most recently, Jack joined UpLift in 2021 as a Product Manager. Additionally, since 2016, they have been engaged in producing the Next Lawyer Up Podcast, responsible for audio production, idea brainstorming, and minor edits. Jack Sykstus has a range of experience in therapeutic work, clinical user experience, teaching, and podcast production.

Jack Sykstus, LMFT has a diverse educational background in the field of counseling and psychology. Jack obtained their Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from The University of Alabama, where they studied from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in General Human Environmental Sciences/Interactive Technology at the same university from 2015 to 2016.

In terms of their undergraduate education, Jack Sykstus attended Troy University from 2012 to 2014, where they completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology. Before attending Troy University, they spent two years at Auburn University.

In addition to their formal education, Jack Sykstus has obtained various certifications. Jack is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, which they obtained from the DC Board Of Mental Health in April 2022. Jack is also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), granted by the Virginia Board of Counseling in July 2021. Furthermore, they hold another license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, received from the Virginia Board of Counseling in March 2021.
