Joel P. Yuhas, FACHE, was appointed executive vice president, UPMC, and president of the system’s Health Services Division in March 2023. In this role, Yuhas is responsible for the direct oversight of 40 academic, community and specialty hospitals across the state of Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York.
Yuhas had worked in leadership roles at UPMC for eight years until 2014. He was named senior vice president for UPMC International and president, UPMC Ireland, after having served as president of UPMC Horizon and Northwest hospitals.
Most recently, before being recruited back to UPMC, he served as regional chief executive officer of UCHealth Southern Colorado and president, UCHealth Memorial Health System in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Before that, he was the president and CEO of St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, Calif., part of Dignity Health. He has more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, including CEO positions within major hospital systems and experience in both community and academic hospitals.
Yuhas received his undergraduate degree at Cleveland State University in 1993 and earned his Master of Healthcare Administration in 1996. He has been an active Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 1995.
