Tom Young

Tom Young has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Tom currently works as a Senior Controls Engineer at KrakenFlex (Octopus Energy Group) since January 2023. Prior to this, they were a Principal Consultant at Tomcat Engineering since March 2012. From September 2019 to January 2023, they worked as a Principal Engineer at ELEVEN-I. Before that, they held the position of Principal Engineer (Control and Monitoring Systems) at Quiet Revolution from May 2007 to April 2012. Tom also has experience working as a Higher Scientist at BAE Systems from November 2006 to May 2007 and as a Research Scientist from September 2003 to August 2005, also at BAE Systems.

Tom Young obtained their MEng degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2003. Tom also holds various certifications, including the Deep Learning Specialization, Sequence Models, Convolutional Neural Networks, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, How Google does Machine Learning, Structuring Machine Learning Projects, and Neural Networks and Deep Learning, all obtained from Coursera between 2018 and 2019. Additionally, they have certifications in Fell and Process Trees over 380mm (CS32) from NPTC in 2015, Chartered Engineer from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in 2014, Chainsaws (CS30/31) from NPTC in 2013, Brushcutters from NPTC in 2006, CSCS Professionally Qualified Person from Construction Skills in 2013, and IRATA Level 2 Rope Access Technician from IRATA in 2008.
