Christos Makropoulos is a distinguished academic and researcher with extensive experience in water management and hydraulics. Currently serving as the Director of both the Institute for Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure (ISSRI) and the Laboratory of Applied Hydraulics at the National Technical University of Athens, Christos specializes in teaching subjects such as Hydrology, Water Resources Management, and Urban Water Management, while also conducting research on floods, droughts, and water-energy systems. Previously, Christos held the position of Director of the Urban Water Management and Hydroinformatics Group at NTUA and worked as a Lecturer at the University of Exeter. Earlier career experiences include serving as a Research Fellow at Imperial College London, where Christos focused on developing Decision Support Systems. Christos earned a PhD in Urban Water Management and holds both an MSc in Environmental Engineering and an MEng in Civil Engineering from prestigious institutions.
