Jacob D. Carpenter

Jacob D. (Jake) Carpenter is an experienced Environmental Engineer with a background in water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) engineering, currently serving as the Region 4 Air Toxics Regulatory Coordinator and Air Toxics Team Lead at the US Environmental Protection Agency since 2015. With extensive consultancy experience in the WASH sector, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, Jacob has developed expertise in groundwater development and low-cost water supply technologies. Jacob has also contributed to academia as an Adjunct Professor at Mercer University, teaching courses on Groundwater Hydrology and WASH in developing contexts. Previous roles include significant engineering positions with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, Mercy Corps, and the US Peace Corps, where Jacob focused on technical oversight and enhancing community resilience through effective water and sanitation solutions.
