Gang Chen is currently the Head of Growth at Speak. Gang has held this position for 2 years and 11 months. Prior to Speak, they were with Thumbtack for 3 years and 2 months where they were an Analytics Manager, Product Analyst. During their time at Thumbtack, they were responsible for driving initiatives related to Thumbtack’s matching,monetization, platform safety, and marketplace health and sustainable growth. Gang was also the lead analyst in major cross-functional initiative for monetization and was responsible for experiments end-to-end, from creating framework and analysis to driving the design of each iterations. These tests eventually led to the launch of the new model across the entire platform. In addition, they also designed various levers for dynamically adjusting pricing on the Thumbtack platform, such as supply and demand pricing and per-pro pricing. Gang was also responsible for tracking the health of Thumbtack marketplaces which included (1) building tactical dashboards for monitor supply and demand, pricing dynamics, pro retention, and other characteristics of our marketplaces, and (2) in-depth research to understand longer-term trends in the marketplace.
Before Thumbtack, Gang Chen was with Dropbox for 2 years and 4 months where they were an Online Revenue Operations Analytics and User Operations Analyst. During their time at Dropbox, they were responsible for A/B experiments and other initiatives to drive user growth on Dropbox for Business teams throughout the customer lifecycle. Gang also built models to measure and forecast annual/monthly dollar retention rates as well as upsell rates for Dropbox for Business.
In addition to their work experience, Gang Chen has also been a Teaching Fellow with Yale-China Association for 2 years and 2 months as well as an Economic and Trade Policy Intern with U.S. Department of State for 3 months.
Gang Chen has a B.A. from Yale University in International Studies and East Asian Studies and a CORe from Harvard Business School.
