Elizabeth Cantwell

Elizabeth Cantwell is an accomplished leader in research and innovation, currently serving as President of Utah State University since August 2023. Prior to this role, Cantwell held the position of Senior Vice President for Research & Innovation at the University of Arizona, focusing on enhancing research capacity and translation for national applications. Additional leadership experience includes serving as Chairperson of the Board at CASIS ISS National Lab and CEO of ASU Research Enterprise at Arizona State University, where efforts were directed towards applied research and innovation. Cantwell's career spans numerous prestigious laboratories, including Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where responsibilities encompassed economic development, strategy, and project management. Educational credentials include a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, an MBA from The Wharton School, and a BA in Human Behavior.
