Dirk Vandenplas

Dirk Vandenplas is an experienced IT Project Lead at UZA since June 2006, with a background as a nurse specializing in intensive care and healthcare information systems for 25 years. This clinical experience serves as a foundation for work in health informatics, particularly in supporting the PDMS system for the ICU department as part of the "Care, Science and Technology" group. Dirk is also a member of the EPD-Workgroup, focusing on implementing a hospital-wide Electronic Medical Record at UZA and AZ-Monica. Prior to UZA, Dirk held positions as a Research Nurse and ICU Nurse at the University Hospital Antwerp, and served as an ICU Nurse during military service at the Military Hospital Queen Astrid. Dirk holds a degree in hospital nursing from Sinte Berlindisinstituut voor verpleegkunde, achieved from 1985 to 1988.
