Jesse Ortega

Jesse Ortega is a seasoned geologist currently serving as Senior Development Geologist at VAALCO Energy, Inc. since October 2023. Previously, Jesse held the position of Chief Geoscientist at Sirius Geoscience from March 2020 to October 2023, providing consulting services for the Oil and Gas Industry. From June 2013 to March 2020, Jesse was with Noble Energy, where roles included Exploration Geologist focusing on international new ventures, Lead Production Geologist overseeing offshore developments in Israel, and Development Geologist involved in appraisal efforts in Cyprus. Jesse's career began with exploration in the Falkland Islands as an Exploration Geologist. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Houston, complemented by research in groundwater subsidence. Additional experiences include teaching geology, laboratory work in New Zealand, and SCUBA instruction in the US Virgin Islands.
