Ernst Kooreman

Ernst Kooreman has a diverse work experience in various fields. Ernst started their career as a Member of the Board at VU-Orkest from September 2012 to August 2014. During this role, they served as the Treasurer and Chairman of the student orchestra of the VU University, organizing tours and performances in renowned venues.

Following that, Ernst pursued their academic career and joined Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2015 for a Bachelor internship, where they worked on an atomic force microscopy (AFM) project. This project resulted in a publication in Scientific Reports as they explored the influence of tip size on image production and force measurements.

In 2016, Ernst joined Amsterdam UMC for their Master internships as a part of their Major and Minor in Medical Natural Sciences. For their Major internship, they analyzed the manual optimization process of creating brachytherapy treatment plans for prostate cancer patients. Ernst'swork led to the definition of optimization functions for a bi-objective optimization algorithm and a publication in "Brachytherapy". During their Minor internship, they investigated the use of a Double DANTE MRI pulse sequence for intracranial vessel wall MRI, which resulted in a publication in "NMR in Biomedicine".

Continuing their research journey, Ernst joined The Netherlands Cancer Institute in 2017 as a PhD candidate. Ernst'sresearch focus was on quantitative MRI (qMRI) for treatment response monitoring using the Unity MR-linac, a combination of a 1.5 T MRI and a linac for radiation treatment.

Most recently, Ernst joined Valcon in 2023 as a Data Scientist.

Ernst Kooreman obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Medical Natural Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) between 2015 and 2017. Prior to that, between 2011 and 2015, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Medical Natural Sciences at the same institution. Additionally, in February 2023, Ernst obtained a certification as a Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate from Microsoft.
