Matt Davis has a diverse work experience in IT and cybersecurity. Matt worked at ValleyStar Credit Union as the Director of IT & Cybersecurity, where they developed and implemented strategies aligned with the organization's goals. Matt also prioritized cybersecurity risks and established future goals for IT and cybersecurity. Prior to that, they served as a Network and Security Specialist II and IT Specialist at the same company. Before joining ValleyStar Credit Union, Matt worked as an IT Support Specialist at First Piedmont Corporation / Davenport Energy. Matt also served as an Information Technology Specialist at the Integrative Center for Science and Medicine. Earlier in their career, Matt worked as an Information Technology Support Specialist at Martinsville City Public Schools, where they managed and repaired various devices and troubleshooted computer systems. Matt also gained experience at Henry County Communications Center, where they used computer-aided dispatch systems and handled emergency calls.
Matt Davis completed their education at Western Governors University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Network Operations and Security from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they attended Danville Community College from 2005 to 2008 and earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree in Computer Programming.
In terms of additional certifications, Matt has obtained several. Matt received the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² in July 2023. In December 2022, they obtained the Cisco Certified Network Associate Cyber Ops (CCNA) certification from Cisco. Earlier, in January 2020, they acquired the CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) and CompTIA Security Analytics Professional certifications from CompTIA. In the same year, they also received the CCNA Routing and Switching certification from Cisco and the CompTIA A+, CompTIA Cloud Essentials, and CompTIA Project + certifications from CompTIA.
Furthermore, Matt holds the CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist and CompTIA Security+ certifications, which they obtained in January 2016. Additionally, they possess the CompTIA IT Operations Specialist and CompTIA Network+ certifications that they obtained in December 2015. Matt also received the CIW: Web Foundations Associate certification from Certification Partners (CIW) in March 2015.
It is worth noting that two of their certifications, the Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA) and Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA), have been retired, with the former retired in January 2019 and the latter in June 2019.
