Beth Hinshaw has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Beth started their career as a Writer/Editor at the University of Illinois, College of Engineering in 1989. Beth then worked as a Reporter at Suburban Life Graphic from September 1991 to February 1992. From 1992 to 1994, they served as a Public Relations Manager at LLL International, where they established an in-house PR department and managed media relations. Beth then joined PCI as a Senior Account Executive from 1994 to 1995, overseeing an executive speakers program and organizing media tours. From 1995 to 1999, Hinshaw worked as a Public Information Officer at the University of Michigan, representing two departments and working with the media and community groups. Beth then started their own company, Hinshaw Hall Communications, in 1999 and served as a Strategic Communications Consultant until 2014. In this role, they provided a full range of communication services to various clients, including universities, law firms, hospitals, and nonprofits. Since 2014, they have been the Director of Communications & Marketing at Van Andel Institute.
Beth Hinshaw has a Master of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Miami University. Beth also holds several certifications, including the Driving Change Through Internal Communications Certificate from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) obtained in 2023, the PRSA Crisis Communication Certificate obtained in 2019, and the Facilitator certification from Leadership Management International, Inc. obtained in 2012.
