Kyla Terhune's work experience includes various roles at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, starting as a Surgery Resident in 2004 and eventually becoming the Senior Vice President for Educational Affairs. Kyla also served as the Vice President of Educational Affairs and the Program Director of Surgery Residency during their time at the medical center. In addition to their roles at Vanderbilt, they have been a Professor of Surgery and Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine since 2011. Terhune has also worked at VA TN VALLEY HCS-NASHVILLE as a Staff Surgeon and Chief of the Section of General Surgery. Prior to their medical career, Terhune worked as a Teacher and Coach at St. Andrew's School from 1996 to 1999.
Kyla Terhune holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Vanderbilt University, which they obtained from 2014 to 2016. Kyla also holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, earned between 1999 and 2004. Kyla completed their undergraduate studies at Princeton University, where they received their Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology from 1992 to 1996. Kyla obtained their high school diploma from Batesville High School between 1989 and 1992. In addition to their formal education, Kyla Terhune has certifications in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care (SCC) from the American Board of Surgery, obtained in 2011.
