David Lawson has extensive work experience in the software engineering and development field. David has held various roles in different companies throughout their career.
David'srecent position was as a Principal System Software Engineer at Vantage Robotics, a role they have held since May 2021.
Before that, they worked at LUCI as a Principal Software Architect from February 2017 to November 2018. At LUCI, they developed a virtual reality software development kit on Android, MacOS, and Windows for lightweight head-mounted displays.
From August 2015 to January 2017, David worked at Immerex Inc. as the Principal Software Architect. In this role, they developed a virtual reality software development kit on Linux and Windows for lightweight head-mounted displays.
Prior to that, they were a Principal Software Architect at Storybricks from February 2014 to March 2015. At Storybricks, they used goal-oriented AI planning, utility theory, and constraint solvers to create user-driven story plots.
David also had significant experience at Qualcomm, where they worked as a Senior Staff Software Engineer from March 2010 to February 2014. At Qualcomm, they were the programming lead for a virtual world and robotics simulator used for computer vision, perception, and motor control research.
Before joining Qualcomm, David worked at Sony Computer Entertainment America as a Senior Manager Programming, Franchise Technical Lead, and Lead Programmer, holding various roles from 1999 to 2008. David was responsible for managing technical teams, developing technical strategies, and adding features to a 3D graphics engine.
Additionally, they worked at Sierra Entertainment as a Contract Senior Software Engineer, porting software rasterizing engines and graphics engines to Direct3D.
David's career started at GreyStone Technology, Inc., where they worked as a Principal Software Engineer from 1995 to 1998. David developed real-time simulation and game development projects, including visualization simulations for Unmanned Air Vehicle pilot training and leading a video game programming team.
David also founded Simulus Software and worked as a consultant for various companies in aerospace, wireless data, and electronics industries. David'sprojects included radar operator training systems, real-time simulation, data communication terminals, embedded systems, and device drivers.
Throughout their career, David Lawson has displayed a strong background in software engineering, VR development, AI planning, and technical leadership.
David Lawson has a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
