Luis Alviarez has over 17 years of work experience, with a focus on program management and business development in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. Luis has a Master's degree in Project Management and holds professional certifications as PMP® and SMPC®.

From 2014 onwards, Luis worked as the Latin America Program Manager at Varex Imaging Corporation, where they were responsible for managing operations in Mexico, Caribbean, Central, and South America. Luis successfully led a team of Field Service Engineers, ensuring the provision of preventive and corrective service for more than 50 linear accelerator units. Under their leadership, the company achieved outstanding SLAs and Metrics, with a consolidated Operational Availability rate over 99%.

Luis also played a key role in establishing joint ventures with foreign companies to obtain financing for the construction of an Extra Heavy Oil Upgrader and an Industrial Condominium Complex.

At the start of their career, from 2002 to 2007, Luis worked as an Assistant Manager in the Business and Project Development Department at Mitsui & Co., Ltd. During this time, they coordinated and developed business and projects in the energy/hydrocarbon sector for Venezuela and the Caribbean. Luis also provided planning assistance for Mitsui & Co., Ltd Corporate Business Directives, enhancing communication channels with major actors in the oil, refinery, and petrochemical sectors.

Luis Alvarez has a strong educational background in material science engineering. Luis obtained their Master of Science (MSc.) degree in Material Science Engineering from Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) between 2000 and 2002. Prior to that, they completed an engineering internship at Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) in the same field from 1998 to 1999.

Earlier in their academic journey, Luis earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Materials Science Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar between 1992 and 1998.
