Ahmad Issa began working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of British Columbia in 2019. In 2022, they joined Variational AI as a Machine Learning Scientist. At Variational AI, Ahmad works with leading biopharmaceutical partners and is developing its own internal pipeline, using state-of-the-art machine learning in a data-efficient method to rapidly generate novel and diverse compounds that are optimized for multiple properties to avoid the most common causes of drug attrition and increase clinical probability of success.
Ahmad Issa completed their education history with a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin in 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science - MS in Mathematics from the University of Melbourne in 2013, and a Bachelor of Science - BS in Mathematics from the University of Melbourne in 2011. Ahmad began their educational journey in 2008 with the University of Melbourne.
