Juan Pablo Hernandez Ortiz has a diverse work experience in various scientific fields. Juan Pablo is currently the Chief Scientific and Operating Officer and co-Founder at Vaxthera since June 2020. Prior to that, they worked as the Director at GHI-One Health Colombia Institute and as a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Molecular Engineering, Center for Research and Surveillance of Tropical and Infectious Diseases, and Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago. Juan Pablo also served as an Honorary Associate at the Biotechnology Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Earlier in their career, they held the positions of Full Professor at the Department of Materials and Nanotechnology and Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the Department of Materials and Bioengineering. Additionally, they worked as a Visiting Professor at the Department of Chemistry-Genetics and Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
Juan Pablo Hernandez Ortiz has a strong educational background in engineering. Juan Pablo obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana between the years 1994 and 1998. Afterward, they pursued advanced studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Chemical Engineering from 2000 to 2004. Following their Ph.D., Juan Pablo continued their academic journey by undertaking a Postdoctoral program in Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which lasted from 2004 to 2007.
