Nico Heath

Nico Heath has a diverse work experience in the telecommunications industry. Nico started their career in 1998 at Telkom as an Access Network Engineer, where they were responsible for designing the Access Copper Network and the fiber infrastructure. Nico also gained expertise in SAP implementation and provided training for SAP estimator.

Nico later worked as a Fiber Consultant at Neotel/Liquid Telecom, leading stakeholder engagement and developing processes to determine feasibility for new business connections. Nico then joined Unison Fibre as an Infrastructure Architect, where they built up a fiber network capability and collaborated with government representatives, power utilities, and vendors. Nico also served as a Communications Network Planner at Unison Fibre, working on the New Zealand Government's ultrafast broadband initiative.

Afterwards, Nico joined nbn™ Australia as a Senior Solution Architect, responsible for developing and implementing architecture and standards for various FTTP solutions. Nico also provided technical leadership in training and negotiation activities.

In their most recent role at Vecima Networks Inc., Nico served as the Director of Field Services in Australia before being promoted to the Senior Director of Business Development for the APAC region. As a Field Engineer, they built and managed test campaigns, provided subject matter expertise to Australian customers, and supported new business development.

Overall, Nico Heath has extensive experience in telecommunications network design, architecture, development, and business development.

Nico Heath obtained a Certificate in Datametrics, with a specialization in Computational Intelligence, from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Prior to that, they earned a National Diploma in Electronic Engineering - Communications from Vaal University of Technology, completing their studies in 1996. Nico has also obtained additional certifications in Emotional Intelligence and Management Foundations from LinkedIn in 2022.
