Matthew Kowal

Matthew Kowal is an experienced professional currently serving as a Research and Development Intern at Ubisoft and a Research Intern at Toyota Research Institute. Matthew is also a PhD student at York University and a Technical Team Lead at Vector Institute, leading a team of six data scientists on a video understanding project for the Computer Vision Symposium. Previous positions include Lead Scientist in Residence and AI Scientist in Residence at Next AI, where Matthew provided technical support and guidance on software and hardware technologies, and multiple academic roles at Ryerson University, including teaching assistant in machine learning and algorithms, and graduate assistant in relevant courses. Matthew holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Ryerson University and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University.
