Santiago Pérez-Rubiano

Santiago Pérez-Rubiano has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and software development. Santiago is currently serving as the Senior Engineering Manager at Kinesso, starting from December 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Velocia where they held the position of Tech Lead and later became the Head of Engineering from January 2018 to February 2022.

Before Velocia, Santiago worked at Blanc Labs as the Lead Blockchain Engineer from October 2017 to June 2018. Santiago also gained valuable experience at Globant, where they held multiple roles. From May 2016 to October 2017, they served as the Tech Lead at Southwest Airlines, leading a full-stack team and working on operational software. Prior to that, they worked as a Java Developer at Southwest Airlines from January 2015 to April 2016, contributing to projects in the Crew Planning department.

Santiago's earlier experiences include working as a Research Assistant at Purdue University from August 2013 to July 2014, where they were involved in the development and maintenance of a continuous integration and testing system. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineer at CIM@LAB at Universidad Nacional de Colombia from August 2013 to January 2014, leading the development of a Hospital Information System. Santiago also served as a Research Assistant at MindLab at the same university, competing in the international contest ImageCLEF in 2013 and 2014.

Santiago Pérez-Rubiano earned a Cum Laude Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Universidad Nacional de Colombia from 2008 to 2014. Additionally, in March 2016, they obtained the LPIC-1 certification from the Linux Professional Institute.
