Teddy Lu has extensive work experience in design and illustration. Teddy currently serves as the Head of Design at Veo since January 2022, where they are responsible for leading the design team. Prior to that, from September 2019 to March 2023, they worked as the Creative Director at Veo.
Teddy also has their own design and illustration business called Lu Design / Illustrations since May 2010, where they work as a principal freelancer. In this role, they specialize in industrial design work, including concept sketching, storyboarding, CAD modeling, packaging development, and logo design. Teddy is also skilled in illustration and can adapt to different styles, particularly excelling in rapid and high-fidelity storyboarding, children's book illustration, and character design.
In addition to their freelance work, Teddy founded Sketch Squad in January 2017. Sketch Squad is a team of highly creative individuals who specialize in visually capturing information, such as through sketchnotes or graphic recording.
Teddy has also worked as an Art Director/Illustrator at KaZoom Kids Books since August 2016, where they are responsible for directing art and creating illustrations for children's books. Furthermore, from August 2016 to May 2019, Teddy worked as a Visiting Professor at Purdue University, where they exposed students to industry methodologies and processes to prepare them for professional industries.
Prior to these roles, Teddy gained experience as a Design Associate at gravitytank from June 2011 to September 2015, working on innovative design solutions for various clients. Teddy also briefly freelanced for STRENG - Design and Innovation Consultation Firm in April and May 2011, and worked as a Freelance Designer at Webb deVlam in February and March 2011.
Teddy started their career as an Industrial Design Intern at Baxter Healthcare from May to August 2009, and also gained experience in the same role at Life Fitness from June to August 2008.
Teddy Lu attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2006 to 2010, where they received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Industrial and Product Design.
