Cristina Vera has a wealth of work experience, beginning in 2000 as an Information Coordinator for the City of Chicago. In this role, they created and implemented the City's recruitment campaign to secure full enrollment of nearly 17,000 preschool children and increased Latino enrollment by 10 percent. Cristina also developed and launched a public awareness campaign for Mayor Daley's KidStart summer jobs program. In 2006, they moved on to become the Assistant Communications Director for the Chicago Park District, where they successfully merged marketing and press departments' resources and staffing and created an integrated communications plan for park programs and initiatives. In 2007, they became the Director of External Relations for the Illinois Network of Charter Schools, where they developed and executed communications strategies to promote charter public schools statewide. Finally, in 2009, they founded Vera Creative, a human-centered creative agency that shapes the future of social equity with innovative marketing, design, strategic communication, and community engagement.
Cristina Vera has attended both DePaul University and Wheaton College, though no degree or field of study has been specified.
