Habib B. has a diverse range of work experience in the field of machine learning and bioinformatics. Starting in 2011, they worked on their Master's thesis at the Jennifer Doudna Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on the mechanisms of CRISPR target recognition. They then went on to complete their PhD at Biozentrum, University of Basel, researching giant multi-enzyme complexes. Afterwards, they worked as a machine learning engineer at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, contributing to projects involving deep learning and super-resolution image reconstruction. Habib B. also gained experience as a senior machine learning engineer at Kaggle, where they achieved a Stanford Gold Medal for their work on RNA molecule structure prediction. Currently, Habib B. is working as a machine learning lead at VergeSense, taking on a leadership role and managing ML solutions integrated into the production stack.
Habib B. obtained their Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in 2009. Habib then pursued a Master of Science degree in Molecular Bioengineering at Technische Universität Dresden from 2009 to 2011. After that, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Structural Biology at Biozentrum, University of Basel from 2012 to 2015.
