Thorgeir S. Helgason

Thorgeir S. Helgason is an experienced Engineering Geologist with a robust background in project management, ground investigation, and environmental impact assessment. Currently serving as an Engineering Geologist and Project Manager at Verkís hf/Ltd Consulting Engineers since April 2013, Thorgeir previously held the position of Managing Director at Petromodel ehf from January 2000 to December 2022. Thorgeir's earlier roles include Engineering Geologist at Almenna Consulting Engineers Ltd. (June 2007 - April 2013), Linuhoennun hf (August 1991 - December 1999), and the Icelandic Building Research Institute (now part of Innovation Centre Iceland) from August 1978 to August 1990, where Thorgeir also became Head of the Engineering Geology Section. Academic credentials include a Master of Engineering Science in Geotechnical Engineering from Western University (1983 - 1986) and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Háskóli Íslands (1974 - 1978).
