Luís André Fernandes

Luís André Fernandes is an experienced optical designer and researcher with a strong background in optics and photonics. Currently serving as a Research and Development Team Manager at VIAVI Solutions since December 2018, Luís leads the optical team and previously held the position of Senior Optical Designer, focusing on optical test equipment and automated test tools for quality assurance. Prior to this, experience includes roles as a Data Consultant at Sema and a Senior Scientist at OZ Optics, where Luís managed the design and production of fiber optic components. Academic credentials include a PhD in Physics from Universidade do Porto, with research focused on femtosecond laser written optical circuits, complemented by significant teaching and research roles at multiple universities.
