James Rankin

James Rankin has a strong background in legal counsel and company secretary roles. James currently holds the position of Head of Legal at VicReturn. Before joining VicReturn, they worked at Deakin University as a Senior Legal Counsel and Company Secretary, and later as a Legal Counsel and Company Secretary. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Legal Counsel at Healthscope. James has also worked as a solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills and as an extern and law clerk at Eversheds Sutherland. James began their career as a lawyer at K&L Gates and later worked as a Legal Counsel at Australian Unity. In addition to their legal career, they also served as a Councillor at Moonee Valley City Council.

James Rankin completed their Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (with Honors) degree in Law, Politics, and American Studies from the University of Melbourne between the years 2003 and 2008. James then pursued a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) from the College of Law in 2009. In 2011, James Rankin attended the Australian Institute of Company Directors, where they completed the Company Directors Course (GAICD). James further expanded their education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2016-2017.
