Gavan Kwan has a diverse work experience spanning over several notable companies. Gavan started their career in 1997 as an Interim Engineering Intern at Qualcomm, where they tested software libraries for BREW SDK and Eudora 5.0.
In 2002, Kwan joined Oracle as a Senior Member Technical Staff, responsible for participating in architecture reviews and analyzing engineering prototypes for performance and scalability bottlenecks. Gavan later became a Sr. Software Engineer, collaborating with partners to conduct and tune high-end scalability benchmarks and automating component test scripts.
In 2007, Kwan made a significant move to Google as a Software Engineer, where they built and led the development team for the Webby Award-winning Google Store. Gavan also contributed to the design and development of YouTube's cloud-based video editor and implemented a real-time distributed video rendering system. Kwan remained at Google until 2016.
Following their tenure at Google, Kwan joined VideoSlick in 2016 as the CTO, where they currently hold a leadership role.
Gavan Kwan completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Computer Science with a minor in Music from Columbia University from 1996 to 2000. Gavan then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from Stanford University between 2000 and 2002.
