Robert J. Schmidt

Robert J. Schmidt currently serves as the Building Official for the Village of Western Springs, overseeing building inspection and plan review activities since August 2023. Prior to this role, Robert held the position of Building Official for the Village of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, from February 2023 to August 2023, where responsibilities included coordinating building inspection and code enforcement activities. Robert's extensive experience in building and zoning code administration began as a Building Inspector/Plans Examiner for the Village of Western Springs from 2014 to 2023. Additional prior roles include positions at SAFEbuilt and the City of Hickory Hills Building Department, as well as significant tenure at Michael Buss Architects, where responsibilities encompassed design and development of various building systems. Robert's foundational experience includes project management and drafting roles with various architectural firms in the late 1990s.
