Chris Canfield serves as the Vice President of the Virginia Tourism Corporation, a position held since 2003, that evolved from an initial role as Ad Director focused on revitalizing the Virginia is for Lovers Brand to a broader mission of fostering creative communities through tourism. Prior to this, Chris acted as the State Tourism Director for the West Virginia Division of Tourism from 2000 to 2003, where strategic partnerships were developed to enhance traveler experiences, resulting in significant growth in tourism. Chris's earlier experience includes serving as Deputy Mayor of Charleston from 1995 to 1999, where infrastructure improvements and the establishment of a major art center were prioritized. Additionally, Chris held the role of Director of Public Relations and Promotions at Snowshoe Mountain Resort from 1993 to 1995, and served as Vice President at Willard & Associates from 1989 to 1993. Educational qualifications include a Masters in Tourism Administration from The George Washington University School of Business and a degree in Journalism and Advertising from Marshall University.
