Marco Rubin

Marco Rubin has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Marco served as a Senior Investment Director at the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC) and its predecessor, CIT, beginning in 2004. In this role, they were responsible for sourcing investment opportunities and conducting thorough due diligence. Marco also worked as a Fund Advisor for VIPC since its inception in 2004. Marco has also served as a Reviewer for the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Prior to their roles at VIPC, Marco founded Exoventure Associates, LLC, a venture capital management firm, in 2003. Marco successfully formed economic relationships with various organizations, including The World Bank Group and NASA.

Marco was the Managing Director at Native American Capital, LLC, an impact investor and advisory firm, from 2005 to 2013. During their tenure, they deployed $18M in new markets tax credits and created the first broadband map for federally recognized Indian Tribes.

In addition, Marco was the Founder and Managing Director of Monumental Venture Partners, an early stage tech fund, from 1999 to 2003. Marco played a pivotal role in capital formation, sourcing investments, conducting diligence, and managing investor relationships. Notable successful exits from this fund include Cinea, Telverse, and Digital Sandbox.

Before their venture capital career, Marco served as the New Ventures Director at MCI Communications from 1996 to 1999. Marco also worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as an Associate from 1985 to 1995, leading high-visibility projects for clients in emerging markets and working on major commercial and governmental contracts. Marco started their career in Crew Training at NASA's Johnson Space Center.

Marco Rubin has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from The George Washington University School of Business, which they obtained in 1991. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico School of Engineering in 1983. Additionally, Marco has obtained several certifications, including being a member of The American Energy Society, completing VC University by UC Berkeley Law and NVCA through the National Venture Capital Association, and being a Corporate Member of AUVSI. Marco also holds a NAUI scuba diving certification.
