Vivian Shields

Vivian Shields has over 30 years of work experience, primarily in the financial and accounting field. Vivian has worked at Virginia529 since 2000, starting as an Accounting Manager and then progressing to roles such as Deputy Finance Director, Controller, and currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Virginia529, they worked at the Virginia Department of the Treasury from 1995 to 2000 as an Accounting Manager. Prior to that, they held various positions at the Virginia Department of the Treasury and the Virginia Department of Education, specializing in accounting and finance. Overall, Vivian Shields has a strong background in financial management and is experienced in overseeing financial operations.

Vivian Shields received their education from various institutions throughout their career. Vivian attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 1986 to 1990, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. In 2022, they enrolled in a Certificate Program at Cornell University, specializing in Diversity and Inclusion. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Foundations of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging from LinkedIn in December 2022.
