Staff Engineer - Mechanical at Virtual Incision

Nathan Otten has held a variety of engineering-related roles since 2009. Nathan began their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Nathan then held three engineering internships at Honeybee Robotics (2009), the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (2010), and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company (2011). From 2012 to 2019, they worked as a Robotics Institute Extern and Graduate Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University. Since 2019, they have been a Senior Engineer at Virtual Incision Corp and an Engineering Consultant for Independent Contractor.

Nathan Otten attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 2007-2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Nathan then attended Carnegie Mellon University from 2012-2014, where they earned a Master of Science in Robotics. Finally, they attended Carnegie Mellon University from 2012-2018, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Robotics.
