Luka Birsa

Luka Birsa has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. In 2000, they worked as an IT consultant at API d.o.o., where they were responsible for choosing hardware and software solutions, administration of all software, hardware, and networks, and communication with distributors. Luka also had experience with technologies such as MS SBS, Linux-based network connectivity, SAN/NAS, Outlook/Exchange, and Autodesk products.

In 2005, they founded Zkotzelo, a web 2.0 media production group that worked on creating the first Slovenian internet-only comedy show. Luka was involved in filming and releasing the first eight episodes on a DVD companion to the most read computer magazine in Slovenia.

During the same year, Birsa also worked as a research trainee at Luleå University of Technology. Luka'sresearch focused on computer networks, wireless networks, disruption tolerant networking, and self-localization. Luka received the Comsware 2007 Best Paper Award as a co-author.

Since 2007, Birsa has been a crucial member of Visionect, a company they co-founded. Luka currently serves as the CTO, leading product, growth, and technology efforts. Luka'scontributions have been instrumental in successfully developing a next-generation digital signage platform based on electronic paper. The solutions offered by Visionect feature highly readable e-paper displays, long battery autonomy, robust enclosure, wire-free installation, and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi or 3G, as well as solar energy power. This enables reliable signage, even in challenging outdoor environments.

Luka Birsa began their education in 1997 at Gimnazija Vič, where they obtained their high school diploma in 2000. From 2000 to 2008, they attended the University of Ljubljana, studying at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science and earning a Master of Science (M.Sc.) equivalent degree. In 2005, Luka participated in an exchange program at Luleå University of Technology, focusing on computer networks. Later, in 2009 and 2010, they pursued further training in business at CEED.
