Martin Lessmeister is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Vista Higher Learning since April 2022. Prior to this, they had an extensive work experience at Cornell University where they held multiple roles. From August 2018 to March 2022, they served as the arXiv IT Lead, responsible for overseeing the technical operations of arXiv's services and managing a small development team. Martin also planned and executed migrations to a cloud-based infrastructure. From March 2014 to March 2022, Martin worked as the Lead Developer for arXiv and from October 2007 to March 2014, they served as an Applications Programmer Senior, developing major functional components for electronic publishing and repository systems.
Before joining Cornell University, Martin worked as an Applications Engineer at Traquair Data Systems, Inc. from February 2003 to October 2007. In this role, they developed software and connectivity solutions for DSP-based embedded hardware systems and provided support to customers. Martin also managed company servers, websites, backup systems, and networking hardware.
Additionally, Martin worked as a Student Computer Consultant at Cornell University from August 1998 to February 2003. Martin also gained experience as a Web Developer at Siemens Medical Solutions from June 2001 to August 2001, where they designed an e-business solution and implemented a discussion board. Martin started their career as an IT Specialist at Siemens Transportation Systems from June 1998 to August 1998, where they managed Windows networking environment and co-developed an intranet web site. Martin also had a short stint as an IT Specialist at Siemens Design & Messe from June 1997 to August 1997.
Martin Lessmeister completed their education starting in 1998 at Cornell University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science. Martin then pursued further studies at the same institution from 2008 to 2011 and obtained a Master of Engineering degree in Computer Science. In November 2019, Martin also received a certification in Project Management from Cornell University.
