Robert Gates has a diverse work experience in the firearms industry, holding various sales and managerial roles. Robert currently serves as the Vice President of Sales for Savage Arms Inc. since 2018. Prior to this, they were employed by Vista Outdoor Inc. as the Vice President of Sales for Hunt/Shoot and also as the Senior Director of Global Tactical Accessory Sales. From 2012 to 2015, Gates worked at ATK, where they held the positions of Director of North America LE, GOV, MIL Accessory Sales and Senior Sales Manager for International. Robert also worked at Surefire LLC as the National Sales Manager from 2009 to 2012, overseeing North American sales and managing a large team. Gates gained experience in law enforcement sales while working at Bushnell Outdoor Products and Michaels of Oregon as the Director of Law Enforcement Sales from 2001 to 2009. Prior to that, they served as the Director of LE & Government at Bushnell, where they managed government, military, and law enforcement sales activities. Gates started their career in the firearms industry as a Regional Manager at Smith & Wesson and Glock Inc.
Robert Gates completed the Executive Large Account Management Program at Miller-Heiman Executive Training in 2012. Robert obtained their BBA degree in Professional Sales from Kennesaw State University - Michael J. Coles College of Business from 1989 to 1993. In 2014, they enrolled in The University of Chicago Booth School of Business for Executive Sales Management.
