Marcia Heron

Marcia Heron has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Their most recent position is as the Director of Program and Alliance Management at Visterra Inc., a role they began in May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Nimbus Therapeutics from September 2018 to December 2021, holding the position of Director of Program Management. From October 2016 to September 2018, Marcia served as the Director of Program Management at CRISPR Therapeutics. Before that, they worked at Novartis as the Global Program Team Director for the Immunology & Dermatology Franchise from January 2016 to September 2016.

Marcia also has a long history with Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), where they held the positions of Manager of the Project Management Office from June 2010 to September 2016, and Investigator III in Cardiovascular and Metabolism from June 2006 to June 2010. Marcia began their industry career at Pfizer as a Senior Principal Scientist in Biological Sciences from January 2003 to June 2006. Prior to that, Marcia worked at Pharmacia as a Principal Research Scientist in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases from January 2001 to January 2003, and at Searle as a Senior Research Scientist in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases from April 1999 to January 2001.

Marcia Heron attended Queen's University from 1987 to 1991, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Life Sciences. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Ottawa from 1991 to 1996 to obtain a PhD in Cardiovascular Physiology.
