Dr. John Mahoney-Phillips has extensive experience in the field of talent management, performance, acquisition, and learning. Dr. John currently serves as the Global Head of Talent, Performance, Acquisition & Learning at VISTRA since October 2020.
Before that, Dr. Mahoney-Phillips worked at Nordea from February 2017 to October 2020 as the Global Transformation and Change lead.
Prior to Nordea, they were the Global Head of Learning - Chief Learning Officer at Philips Lighting from March 2015 to January 2017.
From March 2013 to March 2015, they held the position of Global Head of Organisational Effectiveness at Royal Philips, where they were responsible for successions, talent reviews, organizational development, and leadership development for top executive teams.
Dr. Mahoney-Phillips served as the Managing Director - Global Head of Talent Strategy, Learning & Performance at Nomura from April 2011 to November 2012, leading talent strategy development, performance management system reengineering, and promotion process and standards for a global workforce of 15,000 employees.
At UBS AG, they held various leadership roles from 1999 to 2011, including Managing Director, Group Head Talent & Performance and Executive Director, Global Head of Performance, Learning & Development.
Earlier in their career, Dr. Mahoney-Phillips worked at the SHL Group as a Managing Consultant - Head of International Projects, where they gained extensive experience in emerging markets, particularly in Europe and Asia.
Dr. John Mahoney-Phillips completed their Doctorate in Occupational & Organisational Psychology at the University of East London from 2003 to 2008. Dr. John has since become a Senior Research Fellow in Organisational Psychology at Cass Business School, starting in 2012.
