John Hocking

John Hocking has a strong background in the media industry, with over 30 years of experience in various roles. John is currently working at Visual Data Media Services as a Product Owner, where they manage supply chain automation and works with different teams to streamline the digital media supply chain. John is responsible for improving the relationship with development suppliers, training users on proprietary tools, decommissioning older tools, gathering requirements, and creating automated workflows.

Prior to their current role, John worked at MEDIAGENIX as a Software Implementor, where they supported customers in optimizing the use of the broadcast management system. John led workshops, analyzed client issues, and facilitated migration to the new system. John also worked as an Information Technology Consultant at their own company, JAHOCKING Ltd, in 2020.

From 2019 to 2020, John worked at The Walt Disney Company as a Business Analyst/Media Application Manager, and from 2017 to 2018, they served as the Head of Service Delivery - UK at ANNOVA Systems GmbH. John also worked at A+E Networks UK as a Senior System Analyst from 2015 to 2017.

Earlier in their career, John held roles at Pilat Media, where they served as a Project Quality Lead and Global ServiceDesk Manager. John also worked as a QA Consultant, testing IBMS sub-systems, and providing remote support for clients in Italy.

John's career began in 1987 when they worked as a Transmission Coordinator in the television industry, gaining experience in London, Sydney, and Hong Kong. John worked for companies such as ITV Digital, British Sky Broadcasting, Star TV Hong Kong, Sky News Australia, ATN 7 Australia, and MTV Europe.

John Hocking completed their Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Humanities with a focus on the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine, as well as Classical Studies, at The Open University from 2000 to 2006. Additionally, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Studies from The Open University. In terms of additional certifications, they received the Prince2 Foundation and Prince2 Practitioner certifications from PeopleCert in December 2018. In January 2018, they obtained the PRINCE2® Practitioner CPD certification from AXELOS. Furthermore, they completed the Cert Prep: ITIL Foundations certification from Lynda.com in May 2017.
