Akshaya Moondra

Akshaya Moondra is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), India’s leading telecom service provider.

Prior to taking over as the CEO in August 2022, Akshaya served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of VIL for a period of four years. He played a pivotal role in the prudent management of the finances of the company ensuring that the benefits of world’s largest telecom integration duly accrue to the enterprise. The company also achieved one of the largest public issue of equity in India in 2019 under his leadership.

Earlier, Akshaya was the CFO of Idea Cellular Ltd from 2008 and additionally Whole Time Director [from July 2016] till the time of merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular in August 2018. Akshaya joined the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) in 1986 at Grasim Industries and has worked across multiple roles in ABG since then. In 1989 he moved to Thailand and spent two decades there in various ABG companies - South East Pulp, Thai Rayon, Thai Epoxy and Allied Products and Thai Acrylic Fibre, before moving to India in 2008.

Akshaya was ranked as the Top CFO in Indian listed companies across sectors for 2016 by Finance Asia and amongst Top 3 CFOs in Asia in Telecom Sector by Institutional Investor for 4 years between 2011 and 2016.

An alumnus of the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, Akshaya is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and also a qualified Company Secretary.
